The Admiral Hood in the Past
We would like to know more about the past of the Admiral Hood – if you think you can help then please contact Kath. We know the pub was burnt down in the 1950’s and rebuilt in 1956. Do you recall the fire? Do you have photographers? In fact any old photographs of the pub would be most appreciated. We know there were two famous Admiral Hood’s: Samuel (1724–1816) and his younger brother Alexander (1726–1814). Which of the two was the pub named after? And why? If you think you can help Kath understand the history of the pub further please get in touch.
Outstanding food. Every thing freshly made by the chef even the kids nuggets which were large pieces of tender chicken... breast in a light batter. Braised lamb special and steak pie both very tender and flavoursome. Friendly service and lovely ambience.read more
FANTASTIC CARVERYMet up with friends at this lovely homely pub. We all had the carvery ... the best ever! Three meat... choices, and a great choice of vegetables, and the cauliflower cheese was delicious! Yorkshire puds, and very tasty gravy! We all had a sweet, great choice and beautifully presented. A very good all round menu also, and prices are extremely reasonable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back!read more
